"Baked goods to die for!"

We made a stop at Woods to get directions to our BnB, which was just a couple kms away. Once inside, the smell of the bakery drove us in further. The onsite bakery makes the most delectable breads, scones, cinnamon buns and pies, to name a few. The store also is fully stocked with quality meats and produce, something you don't always get in a resort town store. The owners take great pride in the goods they sell, and it shows. Get there early in the day for the best selection in the bakery. Make a quick stop on your way into Riding Mountain National Park - you won't regret it!

"Fine seasonal store and bakery"

Very good supply of groceries, dairy, produce including fresh local carrots & herbs etc. when in season, as well as a bakery on premises in an inviting venue. Try their yummy breads, buns, pastries and pizza bread. Also excellent deli for meats of all types. You pay a little more but have the convenience of shopping close to the park. The locals wish they were open year round! (alas)

"Grocery store with a bit extra"

Woods offers the usual groceries and a few camping supplies. They have baking as well as some fresh meats for grilling. Wish they had a machine to fill water bottles for drinking water (the 5 gallon jugs) because their supplier for the exchange program is fussy and they will not accept bottles that have another logo on them (regardless if the deposit was paid or not).

"Coffe. books, artistic works, artisanal clothes...you don't find stores like this very often."

Visiting Riding Mountain National Park? Don't drive by Woods General Store. North west corner of Highway 10 to the Park and county road 354 in 'downtown' Onanole, Manitoba. I love walking into an old fashioned store and smelling the aroma of wood floors, fresh brewed coffee and floor to ceiling books. Great little sitting areas outside to enjoy your coffee or tea in good weather. Huge collection of 'veteran' books on every subject for browsing. Painting, sculpture, clothing and accessories all by independent artisans/artists. I got the feeling right away that everything in Woods General Store had been carefully chosen for quality by the individuals who run Woods. Very rare experience in a world of mass produced, foreign made, tacky stuff you see in every tourist stop with staff who haven't a clue how to help you and don't even know/care what they're selling. Try Woods. You'll love it.

"Everything a Tourist Might Need"

This is the perfect stop for tourists before they enter Riding Mountain National Park! If you are traveling via hotels and managed to book a room with a kitchenette, then this is the place to pick up those steaks to BBQ, wine, beer as well as anything else you might need for a couple of days in the park - bug spray, sun screen, floating raft, etc.

"A hidden gem!"

We were driving through Onanole on our way to Riding Mountain National Park and we saw a sign mentioning that the Woods General Store had a bakery and they had gluten free options as well. When we walked in, it seemed like a pretty typical resort grocery store and the bakery didn't seem to be anything special either, but boy were we wrong. We were looking at the gluten free baking when Sam, the baker came and talked to us. She said she had just baked gf zucchini blueberry muffins we could have (we did), and we also picked up a loaf of gf multigrain bread and some gf apple cinnamon mini loaves. We also picked up some non gf cinnamon buns. Everything was fantastic and we will be back!
